Seaton Place celebrates seven years as a ‘place by the sea’

Cleveland aged care residents have been whooping it up with celebrations for their home’s seventh birthday.

Officially opened on 13^th June 2017, Bolton Clarke Seaton Place was built on land previously farmed for fruit, dairy and vegetables along Smith Street.

Now home to 123 residents, the community is a bustling place for residents and their families with a café, wellness spa, private dining areas and a hair and beauty salon.  

Long-term resident Ken, 84, says the time has flown by since he moved in just months after the home opened in August 2017.

“I was in hospital at the time and my brother-in-law was looking around for a place for me and I tell you what, he couldn’t have picked a more fantastic place!” he said.

“The staff are absolutely unbelievable and we are so well looked after here – I wouldn’t change it for quids.

“I moved in when I was 77 and people ask me whether the time has passed slowly and I just think ‘slowly? It’s just gone whizz, whizz, whizz!’”

Seaton Place inherited its name from its location, meaning ‘place by the sea,’ with residents regularly enjoying outings to take advantage of the beautiful coastline.

“It’s like a big, happy family here and there is always something happening like different activities and celebrations or residents sitting down together just having a cuppa in the café,” Ken said.
