Rowes Bay retirement village opens its doors to Townsville
Bolton Clarke Rowes Bay retirement village residents opened their doors to the Townsville community over the weekend at the village’s annual Market Day.
From freshly baked treats to pre-loved items, handmade quilts and pot plants cultivated by the village’s green thumbs, the event gives residents a chance to show off their skills.
Resident Melanie said the annual event was all about welcoming the community into the village and raising money to support the village’s busy calendar of social events and functions.
“My friend Gail and I run the op shop section,” she said.
“We have had many items donated from past and current residents, so we started collecting them and selling them every Friday in the village op shop. This year we thought we’d expand and open the shop up to the community during Market Day.
“There were a lot of residents who donated time and goodies for the weekend – basically everything was donated for the whole market.
“It was a fantastic turn out from the Townsville community and was a lovely day!”
