Plastic poppies pay recycled respects
Bolton Clarke Inverpine residential aged care community and retirement village has commemorated Remembrance Day with a special service including poppies handmade by residents from recycled materials.
The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Graham Wiseman and wreaths were laid by Veterans and community members. Harry Belcher represented the Royal Australian Air Force, Des Presnell represented Vietnam War Veterans, and John Gray represented all volunteers at Inverpine community.
Each paid their respects among Veterans, residents, family and team members present at the commemoration.
During the ceremony the community was surrounded by poppies made from recycled plastic bottles which were crafted by the retirement village residents. The poppies were painted in three colours representing the sacrifices and dedication of Veterans and the fallen. Red poppies represented soldiers at war, white represented nurses supporting the injured, and purple represented the animals who provide valued support to our armed forces.
The group enjoyed morning tea and fellowship together at the Inverpine Remembrance Cafe following the Service.
