Orange aged care home celebrates 10 years of care

Bolton Clarke Gosling Creek is celebrating a decade of care in Orange to join the not-for-profit’s 140th anniversary of providing care to Australians.
The very first resident to walk through Gosling Creek’s doors, Elizabeth (Betty) says she still loves the lifestyle the home offers.
“It was very quiet at the start and we had plenty of visitors like kangaroos and rabbits because there was nothing next door,” Betty said.
“I had come from Foster, Victoria after my husband passed away – I didn’t want to stay in the city because I was used to the country and my son lives here in Orange, so we decided to move me here.
“I was 89 when I moved in here and celebrated my 90th birthday but now I’ll be celebrating my 100th in July!”
Officially opening its doors on 14th March 2015, the home initially welcomed eight residents with 77 now calling Gosling Creek home.
General Manager Brian says it’s a significant milestone for the community to celebrate a decade committed to supporting older people in the Orange area.
“It’s been 10 years of providing person-centred care in the home and we are so excited to honour our residents, team members and families who have been a part of this journey,” Brian said.
“Along with our resident Betty who was the first to move into the home, we have seven team members who have also been with us since day one.
“We have been a part of the foundations of the local community for these 10 years engaging with health care services and local organisations to provide a positive ageing experience for our residents.”
