Moreton Shores in running for international award
Bolton Clarke’s Moreton Shores residential aged care community at Thornlands has won international recognition after last week being named a finalist for Facility of the Year - Ageing in Place at the 8th Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards.
The 120-bed lakeside community was nominated for design and services supporting wellbeing and community connections including a community centre with café, a cinema, senior-specific gym, children’s playground and modern room design supporting independence.
Residents enjoy outdoor activities including caring for the site’s pet chickens and daily walks to feed the turtles in the lake.
“The atmosphere is the best atmosphere I’ve had since I retired, and that’s what I like about it,” resident Rusty McWilliam said.
Bolton Clarke is also a finalist in the Innovation of the Year – Product category for its Digital Talking Books, while its digital independence products earned a finalist position in Best Solution to Support Ageing in Place – Assistive Technology.
Winners will be announced on 20 May in Singapore as part of the AgeingAsia 2020 conference, which will showcase international best practice to support older people.
