McKenzie Aged Care joins Bolton Clarke Group
McKenzie Aged Care has selected Bolton Clarke to become its new owner and operator. Under the agreement, McKenzie Aged Care will transfer nine residential aged care homes and two retirement villages, together with the management rights for eight additional homes to Bolton Clarke.
The transaction strengthens Bolton Clarke’s existing services reach in high demand locations across the eastern seaboard, making it one of the largest aged care providers in Australia.
The Bolton Clarke Group supports more than 130,000 people through its Home Care programs and across 38 retirement villages and, with the McKenzie acquisition, 87 residential aged care homes.
The McKenzie Aged Care transaction follows a series of mergers and acquisitions over the past 8 years that included Acacia Living Group and Allity. These acquisitions, together with an extensive capital works pipeline, will increase the Group’s residential aged care portfolio up to a total of 9,633 beds.
Bolton Clarke Group CEO Stephen Muggleton said he was pleased to have been able to find a way to bring McKenzie Aged Care into the Group after two years of complex negotiations.
“McKenzie Aged Care has a high-performing team, exceptional quality compliance record and a strong reputation with residents, families and referrers,” he said.
“Both organisations are grounded in person-centred values with a shared commitment to delivering quality, innovative care services. We have a lot of respect for the way the McKenzie family established and built the company and we’re very conscious of the need to build on their legacy.”
The McKenzie family - Sally McKenzie, Mary Ann McKenzie, Michael Powell and Rob Hutchison issued a joint statement, saying: “We are delighted that Bolton Clarke Group will be the new owner and custodian of McKenzie Aged Care. We are confident we hand over to an organisation with shared values, goals and ability to deliver quality care to ensure that McKenzie homes remain as a place of choice for people to live and work in for many years to come.”
Bolton Clarke is among only 3% of aged care providers in Australia offering a full continuum of connected care services and living options. The Bolton Clarke Research Institute and the Altura Learning group of companies underpin best practice, research-based innovation and a strong clinical compliance record.
