Market fare, home-made goods at Rowes Bay Market Day
Local craft, plants and goods will be on sale when Bolton Clarke’s Rowes Bay Retirement Village at Townsville opens its doors for its annual Market Day on Saturday, 11 June.
Village Manager Stephen Pether said this year’s event would be bigger and better than ever with the best locally made goods, live radio broadcast and the chance to explore the community’s resort-style facilities.
“This year there will be a range of stalls including furniture, craft, plants, jams and chutneys, hand-made jewellery, vintage clothing and home baked goods,” Stephen said.
“The residents will host breakfast on the BBQ, raffles and a cent sale all while 4TTT broadcast live from site on the day.”
Grace, who recently made the move into the Rowes Bay Retirement Village from her home in the Deeragun, says that she loves being a part of the community.
“Everyone here is so friendly. Whenever you see anyone walking by they stop to say hello,” she said.
In anticipation of the Market Day, Grace has been propagating her plants which she brought with her from her property.
“I’m not too good at making things, so I thought I would do some plants for the Market Day. I have lots of little pots with all different plants in them.
“I had a rack with some succulents which I brought here with me, so I took some of mine and re-potted them so they’ll be ready in time for our visitors!”
The Rowes Bay Market Day will be held on Saturday, 11 June from 8am.
