Inverpine turns silver to mark quarter century

This week residents living at Bolton Clarke’s Inverpine Residential Aged Care community joined staff, volunteers and friends to celebrate 25 years since its grand opening.  

Moreton Bay Division 7 Councillor Yvonne Barlow and Sydney Holl, representative from Minister Peter Dutton, Federal Member for Dickson’s office joined the silver anniversary celebrations.

For resident and Royal Australian Navy Veteran Alec Gagino the day was double cause for celebration as he celebrated his 97^th birthday.

“I was the first and only child for my parents, so my Father must have been excited sometime on the 14^th February when this handsome young baby was born,” he said.

“I have had a very good life and the years have rolled by. I like it here at Inverpine - it’s quiet, peaceful. People know me here, and even though I can’t remember their names they are still friendly. If they see me wandering around, they say hello.

“My wife Joan also lives here now, so it’s nice to have her close by. We have known each other 80 years this year. She’s the light of my life that girl.”

The Inverpine residential aged care community was opened on the 14^th February 1997 to provide assistance to veterans and the wider community.

Today 90 residents call the community home, along with 151 retirement living residents in the co-located retirement village.

Residential Manager Merlin Abraham said residents were delighted to celebrate Inverpine’s landmark birthday.

“Our community has a very proud history and being able to celebrate that with our residents was really meaningful for all of us,” she said.

“We have lots of happy memories here and hope to create many more over the coming years.”

Celebrations ran throughout the day including a morning tea, special luncheon, entertainment, and dancing to mark the importance of Inverpine in the local community for the past 25 years.

To continue the celebrations, and fitting with the anniversary theme, Silver Memories hosted their roadshow from the Inverpine community on the 16^th February for residents to enjoy.
