Healthy connections a Father’s Day priority at Moreton Shores
Healthy connections will be on the Father’s Day gift list when the men of Bolton Clarke’s Moreton Shores retirement village come together to launch their Men’s Group with a Father’s Day breakfast this week.
About 50 residents will come together in the Bay Club for the inaugural meeting with a keynote speaker from the Stroke Foundation. Future sessions will throw a spotlight on all things blokey at monthly sessions promoting wellbeing and positive mental health.
Upcoming highlights will include guest speakers from the Defence Forces and local council representatives, with each speaker sharing their personal experiences.
Moreton Shores Assistant Village Manager Debbie said the men’s group aimed to promote companionship, a sense of belonging living in a village and community engagement.
“Men’s health is very important,” she said.
“We have plenty of social opportunities here, but a men’s group is the missing piece, and it will be awesome for supporting general wellbeing and getting men talking to one another.
“It’s a way of checking in, reaching out and developing meaningful connections.
“You’ve got to keep blokes talking to get them to come out of their shell.”
Fathers from the village will cook up a storm at this week’s Father’s Day breakfast to launch the group.
