Face to face programs return
Members of the Springvale Indo-Chinese Mutual Assistance Association were overjoyed to welcome Bolton Clarke’s Be Healthy and Active program back for face-to-face sessions last month after a two-year hiatus.
The free health and wellbeing sessions offered at the Springvale Indo-Chinese Mutual Assistance Association (SICMAA) recommenced in February after group meetings were put on hold due to COVID restrictions.
The program provides free, practical sessions to help older people get the most out of life. Sessions are available across a range of locations and topics and can be delivered in languages other than English.
Each one-hour session focuses on a different topic including nutrition, falls prevention, CPR and defibrillation, bladder health, skin health and positive ageing.
SICMAA Family Support Officer Mr Nguyen said attendees were delighted with this month’s Healthy Brain Healthy Body session.
“Everybody was overjoyed to see the group back together and enjoyed the session after almost two years apart,” he said.
“You can't imagine how happy our members were last week. It's very emotional and I now know how important it is to have activities like this in our community.”
