Easter gifts that give back

Easter has come early for Bolton Clarke Cazna Gardens residents this month, with a special visit from year 12 students in the St Vincent de Paul group at St Thomas More College.

Students from the local Sunnybank school chose their Bolton Clarke neighbours to be the recipients of handmade Easter Gift Packs for the second year in a row.  

The face-to-face visit was long awaited, with the initiative interrupted last year due to COVID-19 restrictions. Students Layla and Charlie said they were overjoyed to connect with residents in person.

“We wanted to give back to the community through service of its oldest members,” Layla said. “It is extremely important for us as students to interact with our older generation because of how much we can learn from their experiences and wisdom.”

“Being able to visit the residents was a real honour,” Charlie added.  “We made great connections with the residents and hope they enjoyed a bit of extra cheer.”

Cazna Gardens Lifestyle Coordinator Sally Winton explains that intergenerational connections make a huge difference for the residents.

“It is lovely to see visitors somewhat returning to site and interacting with our residents,” she said. “It brings so much positivity and joy to the whole community.”
