Be Healthy and Active hits a milestone
Bolton Clarke’s Be Healthy and Active program welcomed its 20,000th participant at this week’s Healthy Brain Healthy Body session at Eltham Living and Learning Centre, Melbourne.
The lucky attendee was Pam, who received a Maggie’s Recipe for Life cookbook to mark the milestone.
Be Healthy and Active sessions help people learn how to stay healthy and active as they age.
The program aims to give people practical information that will help them stay independent at home for longer.
Since it began in late 2015, more than 700 health sessions have been delivered across the country to groups including Probus Clubs, U3A, Senior Citizens Clubs, Men’s Sheds, VIEW clubs and Red Cross as well as in retirement villages, local libraries, community centres and bowls clubs.
Sessions are also delivered in a variety of languages for culturally and linguistically diverse seniors groups.
Topics cover CPR and defibrillation, falls prevention, first aid for seniors, healthy bladder, brain and body health, nutrition, skin health, mindfulness and understanding dementia.
Be Healthy and Active sessions are free for participants thanks to the generous support of sponsor organisations.
