Aged care community rallies for drought support
Residents and team members at Bolton Clarke’s Baycrest community at Hervey Bay have sent 120 slabs of bottled water to support families and aged care communities doing it tough in Stanthorpe.
The community is supporting Fraser Coast Anglican College in raising money to purchase bottled water to send to the drought-stricken town.
“It was mind-boggling to us that we have a situation in Australia where the drought is so bad bottled water needs to be sent,” said Clinical Manager Erin Stengel.
“We made a pledge to have some ‘water-raising’ activities and aim to donate as much bottled water as we could.”
“Our team is particularly aware of how difficult it would be for the aged care communities in Stanthorpe! We just want to help as much as we can!”
Together the residents, their families and team members donated 60 slabs, and raised enough money to purchase an additional 30.
Erin contacted Bidfood who generously offered to match the purchase of 30 slabs by donating another 30.
“This morning, the Baycrest team took 120 slabs of water to the college to go to Stanthorpe. We are proud to form part of a community that cares.”
