Active ageing focus earns international award
Bolton Clarke has been named the inaugural Operator of the Year – Active Ageing at the Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards, announced as part of the World Ageing Festival held in Singapore.
The award reflects the organisation’s focus on positive ageing, optimising health and wellness across its services and within the broader community.
It recognises initiatives including the community focused Be Healthy and Active education program, which has delivered free sessions on key topics to more than 33,000 older people at community venues nationally supported by digital resources including video tutorials, recipe cards and exercise plans.
Judges also considered the organisation’s Village Hub at Caboolture in Queensland, which has brought together 1350 older people from across the Moreton Bay region for regular activities, and its work through a biennial Health and Wellbeing in Retirement Living survey to drive co-designed responses for retirement village residents in priority areas including regular physical activity, falls prevention and nutrition.
For aged care residents, highlighted initiatives included a wish list program incorporating experiences like hot air ballooning and skydiving and STEM education programs for residents from a six-week zoo internship to 3D printing and construction sessions.
Bolton Clarke also took home the Innovation of the Year: Employee Wellbeing award for its comprehensive employee wellbeing suite with a range of holistic wellbeing offerings from counselling to wellbeing education, mindfulness and fitness videos, financial education sessions and leader training to support employee mental health.
Group CEO Stephen Muggleton said the awards are a testament to Bolton Clarke’s commitment to positive ageing.
“There are a lot of exciting things happening across the Group supporting residents and clients to lead their individual positive ageing journey,” Stephen said.
“Since our early beginnings to present day, we’ve seen the needs of our communities change and we’ve changed with them.
“These awards are great recognition of the people and teams behind this and our commitment to caring and helping people live a life of fulfilment.”
Bolton Clarke was also a finalist for Facility of the Year: Ageing in Place for the recently completed Callisto Place luxury retirement village; Innovation of the Year: Assistive Living Technology for the Buddy social connection app; and Innovation of the Year Active Ageing for the STEM program at Montclaire.
